As an artist you get asked to do some fantastic things. When I was approached to
DESIGN a retro
1950's style wedding I jumped at the chance! I just adore that era! Lately I have been photographing weddings...but planning is a different story. And since I am an
ARTIST and
DESIGNER first and foremost, I knew this would be right up my alley. The pressure was on since the Bride lives in NYC and flew into SLC 2 days prior to the nuptials. She basically gave me full control...and said, "SURPRISE ME"! What a dream! From mini burgers & fries, to the hand made paper decorations ( which the mother of the bride helped craft) and tons of great signage...this was a challenging but extremely rewarding job!
The bride was flawless and resembled a young Audrey Hepburn. She truly wanted a fun and old fashioned wedding. No high tech video montage, just vintage pictures of the bride & grooms parents and grandparents on display. A fabulous band played while everyone danced the night away. The venue ( Ladies Literary Club) I chose was lovely, it's on the Utah Historical list. And the guests enjoyed a delicious retro Candy Buffet, so much fun! CONGRATS ! I hope it was all you wished it would be! And if your wondering...although I was not the official photographer I did take these pics:)

Center Pieces were made up of vintage paper dolls, hand painted luggage, and amazing red floral spheres hand crafted (by the mother of the bride). And look at those cool leather and wood chairs, you can't find those just anywhere! |
|
A fun way to feed each other cake...look closely at the forks:) |
3 foot Balloons with hand made paper pinwheel fans. Beautiful for filling space in tall areas!
It was great fun picking and choosing all the yummy candy, and making the cute signage!
|
I made sweet little signs for the Bride and Groom. The front table was filled with vintage wedding portraits of their families. And for a fun "Just Married" touch, I hand painted and stacked retro luggage and hat boxes! |
|
The Band was truly amazing, probably because they were actually playing back in the 50's! Never underestimate a grandpa with a trumpet! |

Look at her adorable Send- Off dress! Too Cute! |
